Who we are
Whale was born from a simple obsession. The kind that hits you when you're traveling somewhere new and realize every corner, every building, every street has a story nobody told you. We built Whale for the curious wanderers, the history hunters, and the everyday walkers who want to hear what their city is really saying. Wherever you walk, Whale is listening. And it has a lot to say.
Whether you are walking through a new city, hiking a mountain trail, or exploring the neighborhood you have lived in for years, Whale goes where you go. The stories are already there. Whale just helps you hear them.
Here it is:
It started in Bangkok. Arleen and Lacy were sitting inside the main temple, three weeks into a trip they had been planning for months. The walls were covered floor to ceiling in murals, vivid and detailed, clearly telling some kind of story, and neither of them had any idea what they were looking at. There was no guide, no plaque, no one around to ask. Just two friends sitting in one of the most remarkable places either of them had ever been, full of questions and no way to answer them.
That conversation stuck. Arleen had always gravitated toward the free walking tours when she traveled. She loved having someone point things out, give context, make a place feel alive. Lacy preferred to wander on her own, headphones in, listening to whatever podcast she could find about the city she was in. They were doing the same thing in different ways, both chasing the same information. What if there was something that combined both, a tour that wasn't fixed to a route or a schedule, that simply listened to where you were and told you what you were standing in front of.
That was the idea. That was Whale.
